Bartlett, Tn– Just four sets at home. That’s all that stood between Bartlett Panther Volleyball and a 14-AAA District Championship. Unfortunately, those sets went the way of Arlington in the district championship game. It wasn’t the outcome desired or that had been worked so hard for. However, what defines a championship quality isn’t always defined strictly in the hardware earned but the resolve showed after falling short.
The season not over, Bartlett had no choice but to regroup and move on the Region Tournament to be hosted by Arlington. The first regional was against Dyer Co. which saw Bartlett defeat the Choctaws and set up a Region 7-AAA Championship showdown with Arlington.
The Panthers had to show their resolve once again. They had fought their way back for a chance at a championship and this time for a greater prize. This time it would be on their rival’s home floor and this time they would prevail with a 3-2 win taking the Region 7-AAA Championship and earning the right to host the Sub-State.
Bartlett would next welcome White Station to The Farley with a trip to the TSSAA State Tournament on the line. It was match complete with an atmosphere befitting the stakes at hand as the beginning of the third set began a 1-1 tie.
Those two words began to reverberate again: championship resolve. The Panthers were not done with the 2016 season and this year they would not be denied. A stellar effort saw Bartlett claim a 2-1 lead and then close out the Spartans to extend the season and punch their ticket to the TSSAA State Tournament.
Bartlett will play in the first round of the state tournament at Middle Tennessee State University on Wednesday, October 19th at 11:00 am against Brentwood High School.
