The Panther Wrestling team had another outstanding performance at this year’s Region 8 Individual Championships. The top 4 wrestlers in each of the 14 weight classes advance to this week’s State Championship and Bartlett had 11 wrestlers take that honor: Freshman Kolin Koss; Sophomores, Dalton Cockman, Kameron Franklin, Cody Longo, and Tyler Longo; Juniors, Matt Bozarth, Gabe O’Callaghan, and Cameron Oliver; and seniors Trevor Cara, Ben Huffstetler, and Dawson Johnson. This is the most wrestlers Bartlett has ever had advance to State in one season and is tied for the most of any team in the Region this year.
Bartlett also walked away with 3 Individual Region Champions. Junior, Gabe O’Callaghan won the 106lb division; sophomore, Dalton Cockman won the 145lb division; and senior, Dawson Johnson won the 195lb division.
Junior, Cameron Oliver’s double-overtime championship match (in the heavyweight division) was named “Best Match of the Tournament.”
Coach Kylcye Bolden was named “Assistant Coach of the Year.” And the team finished Runner-Up in the overall team score.
These wrestlers will be competing February 16-18 in Franklin, TN at the Williamson County Ag Expo Center. The brackets and results will be posted on tssaa.org and trackwrestling.com.
