The Bartlett High School Athletic Department is proud to announce this year’s Senior Scholar-Athletes and Athletes of the Year.

Scholar-Athletes of the Year: Hannah Rouse & Nathan Johnson

Hannah Rouse–Hannah played on the Varsity tennis team for the past 4 years.  She was one of the top six players since 9th grade and always displayed true sportsmanship whether winning or being beaten by a more skilled player.

Hannah recently graduated 3rd (of 530) in her class with a 4.60 GPA while taking 12 AP classes during her time as a Panther.  She is a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, Key Club, and Student Council.  She also co-founded the High School Democrat Club at Bartlett High School.  She is headed to Pepperdine University in the Fall.

Nathan Johnson–Nathan was a member of the varsity football team since his sophomore year. He is a three-year starter and capped off his senior season by being voted 1st Team All-Region Tight End by the opposing coaches in the region.  Nathan’s teammates voted him captain on this year’s team because of his hard work, dedication, and leadership both in the classroom and on the football field.

Nathan graduated this week ranked 35 (of 530 students) with an overall GPA of 4.5 including numerous AP and Honors classes.

He has been a member of the Beta Club, the National Honor Society, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Bartlett High School for two years

Athletes of the Year: Chrissy Jensen & Gabe O’Callaghan

Chrissy Jensen–Chrissy ran cross country and track for Bartlett High School for four years and quickly became one of the best distance runners in the area.  She was named Best of Preps for XC during 10th & 11th grades and has served as team captain for the past two seasons.  In XC she held the record at Bartlett High School and her personal record is 20:45 (5K).

In track, she proved to be a versatile runner that can excel from the 400m to the 3200m.  Injuries set her back during track season her junior year, but she worked hard and got back to form during this past year’s XC season.

She and her 4×800 teammates recently qualified for the TN State Championship meet to be held next week in Murfreesboro.

When she is not running, she is hard at work in the classroom as evidenced by her 4.53 GPA and graduating 9th of 530. She was recently notified that she is receiving the Ned McWherter Scholarship which is awarded to only 70 of the 1800 applicants.

Gabe O’Callaghan— Gabriel O’Callaghan moved to Bartlett his sophomore year of high school and in three short years has become a 3x varsity letterman, 2x Region Champion (106lbs in 2017 and 113lbs in 2018), and Folkstyle state runner-up.  He also earned two state championships in the 106lb division in Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling in 2017.

In his senior season, he had a record of 45-3, raising his career record to 110-25.  He also led the team and tied the school record with 29 pins, while setting a new school record in 3-pt nearfalls.

He accomplished all of this while serving as one of our team’s captains and reaching Adidas National’s All-American status.
